Polar Bear Challenge

Take a refreshing splash into icy waters of Head Lake
What is a polar bear plunge - an event usually held yearly throughout the winter season in which participants jump into a body of water despite the freezing temperatures.
In previous years the volunteer firefighters bring chainsaws to cut a hole in the ice to make it possible for the plunge, or quick dip as I call it.
Emergency Medical Services together with the Algonquin Highlands fire department, which specialize in underwater rescue will probably be on standby at this Polar Bear event.
